Terms of Service
Welcome to Squirrel Writer (“Squirrel Writer,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Overview
Squirrel Writer is an online writing platform that helps you create, organize, and enhance your writing projects. The Service may include features such as writing tools, Google Drive data sync, AI text generation, and tiered subscription plans.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction) to use Squirrel Writer. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement and can legally enter into these Terms.
3. Accounts
To use Squirrel Writer, you must create an account using your Google login. Notify us immediately at support@squirrelwriter.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Subscription Plans
Squirrel Writer offers Free and Pro Beta tiers. Each plan provides different features and access limits (e.g., reference categories, project caps, AI chat quotas). Paid plans are billed via Stripe on a recurring basis until canceled.
5. User Content and Ownership
You retain full ownership of all writing, projects, and media you create or upload (“User Content”). You grant Squirrel Writer a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to store, process, and display your User Content solely for providing and improving the Service. We do not claim ownership of your creative works.
6. AI-Generated Content
Squirrel Writer uses Gemini AI to power RefBot and produce text. You are responsible for reviewing AI output. We make no guarantees as to factual accuracy, originality, or copyright status of generated material. RefBot cannot be used to write story content for you, and will refuse requests to do so. Do not use AI-generated content in violation of law or others’ rights.
7. Google Drive Integration
By enabling Google Drive sync, you authorize Squirrel Writer to read, write, and manage files only within your app-linked folder. You also authorize Squirrel Writer to create documents in your Drive on your behalf (for Exports). We do not view or modify unrelated Drive files.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload or produce unlawful, defamatory, or harmful content.
- Attempt to access other users’ data or the Service in unauthorized ways.
- Use AI features for spam, harassment, or misinformation.
- Copy, reverse-engineer, or resell Service components.
9. Intellectual Property
All code, design, and trademarks of Squirrel Writer belong to or are licensed by us, or are properly accredited. You may not copy or modify them without permission.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties about accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service or any AI services. Data is stored securely on Google Cloud and Google Drive, but uptime, availability, and recovery are not guaranteed.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Squirrel Writer and affiliates are not liable for indirect or consequential damages resulting from your use of the Service or generated content.
12. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, describing how we collect, store, and handle your data.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service anytime. We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms. Termination does not affect your obligation to pay owed fees or comply with intellectual property laws.
14. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to revise these Terms occasionally. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.
